Ultrasonic motor with 3 degrees of freedom
The spherical ultrasonic motor was developed for the first time in the world by Minebea using the principle of ultrasonic motors to enable three-degree-of-freedom drive in a single unit. It retains the features of ultrasonic motors, such as high responsiveness.
By making the rotor spherical, the motor has three degrees of freedom of rotation (joints, eye-like motion). As with ultrasonic motors, the power consumption is zero in the posture-holding state, saving energy. The robot does not require a brake, clutch, or reducer, and all of these functions are included. The robot is expected to be used in various fields by incorporating a camera and other sensors.
